Description:

PRIVATE STRUCTURE (lease only). Far from the madding crowd, on the hills of magical Montecatini is Podere Giornolungo, an old ruin dating back to the beginning of the 19th century. During the renovations the owners used natural and antique materials, typical of the culture of Tuscany. The external structure is composed of two main bodies of different heights, with the two fronts facing each other. The lower part is characterized by open-face walls (where materials from a 16th century villa have been used), and alternating small and large windows; the other part is characterized by walls of a uniform plain yellow, on which a small wrought iron balcony and doors and windows framed in sandstone stand out. At first glance they would seem to be two separate bodies but actually they are joined together internally. The area in front of the house offers a breathtaking view over all the countryside with Montecatini and other small towns like come Cozzile, Buggiano, Montecarlo, Ponte Buggianese, Uzzano, Pieve a Nievole, charming places to visit where one can taste the typical products of Tuscany.

Interior:

The house is disposed on two floors. The main entrance on the ground floor leads into the living area of the villa composed of a study with a double sofabed, a toilet, a large living room divided into TV corner, reading corner and dining corner, a kitchen with outside access, a laundry area accessed at the back of the house and a small veranda with outside access. At the end of the corridor between the study and the living room is a stone staircase leading up the first floor with the sleeping area. Along the corridor on the first floor are four double bedrooms, two with ensuite bathroom with shower (one with hydromassage shower), and a bathroom with whirlpool tub and shower.

Park:

The area surrounding the house is 18.000 square metres with terraces mainly cultivated with olives and woodland. The area in front of the house is covered with gravel and guests can find shade under an oak tree, planted by the owners themselves, and a verandah from where they can enjoy the view in total tranquillity. Please notice that photos are taken in spring, therefore flower blossoming, and the colours of the gardens' grass could be different at the moment of your arrival at the villa.

Swimming Pool:

The pool open from the last Saturday of April until the first Saturday of October. Rectangular in shape, it measures 12 x 5 m with a varying depth from 1.10 to 1.70 m , with access to the water by Roman steps and has saline purification and fenced. It distances anout 20 metres from the house, it is fenced and in a panoramic position. It has lined in PVC, with a stone border and there is a cold water shower. The solarium area is provided with sunbeds ,umbrellas , chairs and table.

Giornolungo is in a strategic position thanks to the proximity to Montecatini Terme, a highly popular tourist town, famous for its spa and shops in the town centre. In the surrounding areas, thanks to the railway line and the easy access to the motorway, exit Montecatini Terme, Tuscany offers the possibility of visiting typically medieval little villages as well as famous art centres such as Florence (50 km), Lucca (34 km), Volterra (80 km), San Gimignano (66 km), Vinci (20 km), Pisa (50 km), without forgetting the renowned beaches of Versilia such as Viareggio (55 km), Forte dei Marmi (65 km) and the magical night life that characterizes them.

I loved that there were so many places to sit and enjoy the views and read a book. There were 7 of us, but you could always find a place to sit quietly and read. Loved the kitchen and cooking in it - we had many big family meals prepared there.

Quite possibly the best villa we have stayed in! Stunning location, fabulous pool area and wonderful outdoor seating areas. The kitchen was extremely well equipped and our family had great fun using the pizza oven. The owners were absolutely lovely and Luigi, the manager, extremely helpful during our stay.

Everything was perfect! The kitchen was well stocked with everything you could possibly need, the pool area was beautiful and all the outdoor furniture was comfortable and the quality super. We had every meal outside overlooking the wonderful view. We could not have asked for anything more!! The owner was charming and could have not been more helpful.

I felt like we had a true Tuscan experience ... I loved the fact that we could pick our own herbs,watch the weather change constantly from our elevated location, have a chef in to teach us some simple Tuscan cooking, sit in 4 different locations for meals and the location and furnishings at the pool were above expectations. The quality of the linen and towels was very high and that the pantry was stocked with the basics was great. The owner used to visit early every morning to clean the pool - h

The warm welcome from the owners and their personal touches. I have stayed all across the world in houses and villas and this one is by far the best. It was warm and cosy but large enough to give us all space. They had the grand piano tuned before we arrived and my son spent many hours playing. They had thought of absolutely everything, dressing gowns, a well stocked kitchen and a lovely welcome pack. It is a challenging drive up the hill to the villa but the view alone was worth every minute. T

The villa was roomy, well-equiped and well kept. The pool was clean and regularly maintained. Anna and Pietro were gracious owners who were committed to us having an enjoyable stay. We were met in Montecatini and escorted to the villa. At the villa, we were high above Montecatini with spectacular views, surrounded by olive groves. Due to the isolation, the wi-fi was spotty. We had a great visit to Giornolungo, would recommend it, and would love to return in the future.

It was big, very clean and everything workt. We have experiences in the last year, where most things did not work. to my regret I could not find my review on that house on your site. Giornolungo met all our expectations and the owners were very friendly and very very helpfull. I wished that that would be the case in other houses too. What are the aspects of the property that you appreciated the most?
The cleanliness, the wonderful view, the surroundings, the pool. The Villa is in excellent condition and and is well kept and absolutely beautiful! The pool is fabulous! The bottle of wine for our welcome was wonderful and much appreciated. The owners were very pleasant.
Do you have any suggestions to improve the property?
The kitchen amenities are somewhat lacking. Dishes, serving platters, glasses and cutlery were wonderful....but... No lids for cooking pots, no kettle to boil water, some common cooking utensils are missing. Since we cooked often at the Villa, this was somewhat problematic and was unexpected. No towels for the pool, so we had to use our bathroom towels. Only one gate opener, so it was difficult for our group to do 2 different activities, since one group would always be unable to open the gate u

What are the aspects of the property that you appreciated the most?
For one thing it was exactly as shown on the web site -- no fancy photo shots to enhance the property. The location was gtreat and the pool was such a welcome place to relax. The owneer could not have been more accommodatiing! I would go back again myself and most certaibnly would recommend Giornolungo to anyone else.
Do you have any suggestions to improve the property?
Possibly a manual with instructions about things like the TV and opening the gate from the house. Really couln't ask for much more!!

I found the requirement for 700 euros for the deposit a bit inconvenient. We didn't get the deposit back until the evening before we checked out and since we checked out early did not have an opportunity to exchaqnge the euros at the Bank. It would be more convenient if they could hold US dollars for the deposi.

Primary home of local Italian Family (not foreign investor) and furnished and taken care of accordingly. This property should only be accessible to customers with 100% reputation of being careful as if it was their own house.

WEEKLY RENTALS:
The standard typology is the one that foresees the regular Saturday- Saturday stay. In this case it is possible to send a request or to directly book online.

SHORT STAYS and NON-WEEKLY STAYS:
For some periods it is possible to make shorter stays STARTING FROM 5 NIGHTS (periods highlighted in grey on the calendar). For some properties it is possible to book online, for other properties it is possible to send a booking request, which will be subject to acceptance by Emma Villas. One of our booking operators will answer the clients within 24 hours.

WEEKLY RENTALS NON SAT - SAT STAYS:
Exclusively for the periods marked in grey on the calendar, it will be possible to book different periods, rather than the regular Saturday - Saturday (for instance: check-in Wednesday - Check-out Wednesday). Also in this case, for some properties it is possible to book online, for other properties it is possible to send a booking request, which will be subject to acceptance by Emma Villas within 24 hours.

The booking requests for one week stay during July and August are subject to approval.
