PRIVATE STRUCTURE (Lease only). Villa Cutrera is a newly-built villa located in a residential area in the countryside in the southeast of the region of Sicily. It is a cosy and welcoming, single-floor villa with air conditioning, ideal for both a group of adults and families with children. The rooms are airy and linear and confer a sense of calm and space. The living area, a bright open-plan area with a modern kitchen, dining table and a sitting room, encourages conviviality while the bedrooms, each with its own ensuite bathroom are withdrawn. The French windows of the large living area allow continuous communication with the large furnished porticos that extend in the beautiful level garden, designed with gravel paths, lawn, colourful flowers, pergolas where you can relax and listen to the water flowing from the fountains in the pond. The fixed barbecue is located outside, near both the kitchen and the dining areas. The large swimming pool is perfect for swimming and for children to play in; adjacent is the Jacuzzi (not heatable) which can also be used at night. The property is located in an area of great historical-cultural and food and wine interest. The municipality of reference is Chiaramonte Gulfi in the province of Ragusa which is full of many authentic little towns with splendid examples of Baroque architecture. “Inspector Montalbano” enthusiasts will be able to walk in his footsteps by visiting the towns where numerous scenes from the successful fiction were filmed. There is no shortage of long sandy beaches within the area. Less than an hour away is Marina di Ragusa, a delightful place to enjoy the sea, with fish restaurants and pleasant walks along the seafront. For those who love good food, the area offers a myriad of fine restaurants, wineries, local products and specialties of which the inhabitants are proud. N.B. A separate independent house is just a few metres away at the rear of the villa.

Interior:

The 200 sq m single-floor villa is flanked on two sides by a covered shady portico where you can have your meals and relax. From the portico, various French windows lead into the house and welcome you into a brightly-lit, open-plan living area composed of a modern kitchen with a handy central island, a dining area with an elegant wooden table and a sitting area with divan completed by a TV and working fireplace. Past a double internal door, along a corridor with outside access, is a private sleeping area with 3 double bedrooms, each with en-suite bathroom. The twin bedroom with direct access outdoor is accessed from the kitchen. This room too has an en-suite bathroom. The laundry is also found here.

Park:

Villa Cutrera can be reached from the state road (SS514). From the entrance gate, a 60 m gravel drive leads to a large uncovered parking area. The property is surrounded by a multifaceted garden of about 300 sq m, created by the owner, which includes paths of white gravel bordered by the light stone of the area, areas of lawn, a well, pots with colourful flowers and prickly pears. There is also a pond with aquatic plants, lotus flowers and fountains. The 160 sq m portico running along two sides of the villa includes a relaxation and a dining area on the front side while on the perpendicular side is the fixed barbecue near the entrances to the kitchen and dining areas, both internal and external. Between the villa and the pool area is a gazebo for relaxing in the shade. Beyond the pool area is a wooden platform with Jacuzzi which includes an additional pergola used as a shaded sitting area. Please notice that photos are taken in spring, therefore flower blossoming, and the colours of the gardens' grass could be different at the moment of your arrival at the villa.

Swimming Pool:

The pool area is located on the same level as the villa, which is about 15 m away, and can be reached across the lawn in front of it. Rectangular and measuring 6 x 12 m with the depth varying from 0,90 to 2,50 m, the pool is lined in mosaic and has salt purification, internal and external lighting, a diving board, Roman steps and a metal ladder for access to the water. It is surrounded by a 150 sq m solarium paved in ceramic tiles and equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas.. Adjacent is a raised wooden area with the Jacuzzi tub for 5 people which is also purified with salt, lit and activated manually. Under the pergola are further sunbeds and an external sitting area. The pool area includes an external solar shower and an external flight of steps leading down to the changing room with bathroom and hot water shower. The swimming pool and Jacuzzi are available to guests from the last Saturday in April to the first Saturday in October.

Location and distances


Villa Cutrera is located in a residential area in the countryside with extensive vineyards and olive groves and many other native products such as grapes that ripen under the typical greenhouses of the area. Its location is ideal for getting to know the south-eastern part of Sicily characterised by numerous small authentic towns of historical interest. Chiaramonte Gulfi, just 10 minutes away by car, is defined as the Balcony of Sicily due to its magnificent panoramic position. This beautiful borgo, set on the Iblei Mountains, is just 15 km from Ragusa and is renowned for its cuisine, for the production of olive oil and for its many museums. At the table, the local wines served are Nero d'Avola, Insolia and Cerasuolo di Vittoria. Pork is the specialty of the place but its cheeses are also among the best on the island. The delightful towns to visit in the area are countless, and include the best of Sicilian Baroque, as well as places made famous by “Inspector Montalbano” such as Ragusa, Modica e Scicli and Punta Secca. Ragusa is divided into two parts: Ragusa Superiore and Ragusa Ibla. Imposing Baroque is the unifying trait of the two souls. The rivalry between the two social classes that rebuilt the town enabled a doubly sumptuous town to grow and today Ragusa Superiore displays the elegant Baroque and the orderly modernity of shops and palaces. Below, Ragusa Ibla recalls its medieval past and flaunts Baroque magnificence. In less than half an hour you can explore the enchanting historic town centre of Modica: houses, Baroque palaces and grandiose churches follow each other on the sides of the hills. Scicli, a World Heritage Site, cannot be missed: the town centre with its picturesque architecture, sea blue colour and thousand year-old traditions which today are manifested in the cuisine, in the festivals and in the spirit of the inhabitants. Punta Secca, the fishing village on the Mediterranean Sea enjoys notoriety due to fiction: scenes were filmed here at the restaurant of Enzo a Mare while the house of Montalbano overlooks the beach. The restaurants along the seafront create the right atmosphere for those wishing to enjoy a few days at the beach or to just stroll and admire the beautiful sunsets. Just 500 m away is a pizzeria, a supermarket and a butcher's shop while, for any other needs, you can go to Chiaramonte Gulfi. Regarding the beach, less than 45 minutes away is Marina di Ragusa, an elegant seaside town with numerous fresh fish restaurants, excellent pastries and long beaches of fine sand.

The villa was beautiful and catered very well for our mixed age family group. The extra touches left for us ( milk, fresh vegetables, bread, wine) was very welcome and there was nothing we needed we couldn’t find. I would highly recommend this villa.

If guests enjoy cooking during their holiday, tableware may be little bit inadequate. It would have been great to get printed recommendation list of local restaurants and activities, sightseeings etc.

At the table, the local wines served are Nero d'Avola, Insolia and Cerasuolo di Vittoria. Pork is the specialty of the place but its cheeses are also among the best on the island. The delightful towns to visit in the area are countless, and include the best of Sicilian Baroque, as well as places made famous by “Inspector Montalbano” such as Ragusa, Modica e Scicli and Punta Secca. Ragusa is divided into two parts: Ragusa Superiore and Ragusa Ibla. Imposing Baroque is the unifying trait of the two souls. The rivalry between the two social classes that rebuilt the town enabled a doubly sumptuous town to grow and today Ragusa Superiore displays the elegant Baroque and the orderly modernity of shops and palaces. Below, Ragusa Ibla recalls its medieval past and flaunts Baroque magnificence. In less than half an hour you can explore the enchanting historic town centre of Modica: houses, Baroque palaces and grandiose churches follow each other on the sides of the hills. Scicli, a World Heritage Site, cannot be missed: the town centre with its picturesque architecture, sea blue colour and thousand year-old traditions which today are manifested in the cuisine, in the festivals and in the spirit of the inhabitants. Punta Secca, the fishing village on the Mediterranean Sea enjoys notoriety due to fiction: scenes were filmed here at the restaurant of Enzo a Mare while the house of Montalbano overlooks the beach. The restaurants along the seafront create the right atmosphere for those wishing to enjoy a few days at the beach or to just stroll and admire the beautiful sunsets. Just 500 m away is a pizzeria, a supermarket and a butcher's shop while, for any other needs, you can go to Chiaramonte Gulfi. Regarding the beach, less than 45 minutes away is Marina di Ragusa, an elegant seaside town with numerous fresh fish restaurants, excellent pastries and long beaches of fine sand.

The villa was beautiful and catered very well for our mixed age family group. The extra touches left for us ( milk, fresh vegetables, bread, wine) was very welcome and there was nothing we needed we couldn’t find. I would highly recommend this villa.

If guests enjoy cooking during their holiday, tableware may be little bit inadequate. It would have been great to get printed recommendation list of local restaurants and activities, sightseeings etc.
