Il Colle di Donna Ilaria stands on a little hill dominating the splendid landscapes of the Val d'Orcia and the suggestive Crete Senesi, just a short distance from the borghi of Buonconvento and Montalcino, south of Siena. A farmhouse finely restored in classic Tuscan style, it is located, in a totally independent position, within an old vinicultural farm estate. It consists of two buildings (fully air-conditioned) with, in the bigger solution, eight comfortable bedrooms, furnished with fine furniture and with spacious private bathrooms, a splendid living room, characterised by the original ceiling with barrel vaults and by a beautiful large panoramic window, which extends out onto the large terrace, equipped with relaxation area and dining tables, and then onto a vast manicured lawn, in the centre of which is the swimming pool. In addition to this inviting setting, ideal for sport and relaxation, the complex is surrounded by the peaceful regenerating atmosphere of nature, here the absolute protagonist, while, at the same time, there are many opportunities to explore the artistic splendours and the numerous borghi around the city of Siena which is about half an hour from the property. A few minutes by car will take you to one of the most precious sites in the area, the imposing Abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore, a unique place cloaked in a mystical atmosphere and immersed in a wood of oaks and cypresses, which houses the splendid cycle of frescoes on the life of San Benedetto, the work of illustrious artists of the Italian Renaissance.

IL COLLE DI DONNA ILARIA HAS BEEN SUBJECTED TO A CHECK-UP BY A TECHNICAL RESPONSIBLE BEFORE THE BEGINNING OF THE SEASON, TO ENSURE CONSISTENCY OF THE DESCRIPTION, ACCESSORIES LISTED ON THIS PAGE AND THEIR PRESENT STATE OF OPERATION/MAINTENANCE, TO GUARANTEE QUALITY, CLEANLINESS AND COMFORTS TO ALL CLIENTS WHO WILL STAY HERE.

Interior:

The complex is spread over an area of about 500 sq m, comprising the central building and an annex about 20 m away from it. MAIN HOUSE. On two floors. On the ground floor, the atrium leads into the living area consisting of a large sitting room with fireplace (ornamental), dining room and spacious kitchen. All the rooms have French windows leading out to the garden and the set-up areas. Also on this floor are a double bedroom (with divisible bed) and a twin bedroom (with joinable beds), both with ensuite bathroom with shower, a laundry room and a bathroom with shower. An internal iron staircase leads up to the first floor (also accessible via an external staircase located on the side of the house), consisting of a master bedroom with private bathroom with tub and shower, a suite with double bedroom (with divisible bed) and twin bedroom (with joinable beds), sharing a bathroom with shower and an antebathroom with the secon sink, and two double bedrooms (with divisible beds) with ensuite bathroom with shower. The floor is completed by the TV room with fireplace. ANNEX. On just one floor, it consists of a veranda with living room and kitchenette, and a double bedroom (with joinable beds) served by a bathroom with shower. Please note: the fireplaces are ornamental.

Park:

The property is part of a large farm estate but is located in a totally secluded position at the end of a private country road. The immense open spaces that surround the property are perfect for walking or for sporting activities on foot or by mountain bike, immersed in nature. The park surrounding the buildings extends over two terraces. Outside the living room French windows is a large paved terrace where, protected by gazebo, are tables, chairs, sofas and a long table for outdoor dining; from here a short ramp leads down to the lower level where the swimming pool lies in the centre of a large area of manicured lawn, enlivened by bushes of lavender, roses and rosemary. A large parking area is located at the entrance to the property with electric car charging station. Please notice that photos are taken in spring, therefore flower blossoming, and the colours of the gardens' grass could be different at the moment of your arrival at the villa.

Swimming Pool:

The private swimming pool, in a super panoramic position where you can admire splendid sunsets, is available from the last Saturday of April until the first Saturday of October. It lies in the centre of a large lawn, about 25 m from the house and reachable across the lawn or down a short flight of steps from the terrace in front of the house. The rectangular pool, measuring 4 x 10 m with a constant deep of 1.30m, is lined in light-coloured PVC with a travertine stone border and has chlorine purification, internal lighting and steps in one corner for access to the water. The welcoming solarium area is equipped with elegant sunbeds, a sitting area shaded by large umbrellas and a cold-water shower.

The property is located close to Buonconvento, in the heart of a superb geographical area bordering on the town of Siena, called the Crete Senesi, including the villages of Montisi, San Giovanni d'Asso, Trequanda, Monteroni d'Arbia and Rapolano Terme, characterized by the peculiar morphology of the territory, composed of clay hills and the so-called biancane which give the clay its typical cuneiform relief and light colour. The area of the Crete represents an uncontaminated oasis of picturesque and ever-changing landscapes, in which the territory and the environment have, over time, maintained a rare integrity and purity, beloved by hikers, cyclists and motorcyclists. Its location allows you to easily reach some of the most fascinating places of the bordering Val d'Orcia. Just 22 km away is Montalcino while in the range of a few kilometres, along panoramic roads, are San Quirico D'Orcia, Pienza, Montepulciano, Bagno Vignoni with their rich artistic, cultural and food and wine heritage. About 8 km from the property is the borgo of Buonconvento with the beauty and charm of an old village enclosed by a brick town wall and accessible through two imposing gates into the historic centre; strolling along the narrow streets you will find shops of typical products, great restaurants and cafés. The village has a supermarket, a bus stop, a railway station (for Siena) and, on Saturday morning, a lively open-air market.

Yes, very much. We travelled as a large group of family/ family friends. We were 14 alltogether with kids at the age from 5 yrs. to 16 yrs., one young adult (uni student) and also 4 people over 60. Some of us enjoyed cycling, all of us sightseeing.
