Terra Quercus blends in with the surrounding green countryside moulded by the work of man, is covered by the materials of an ancient land full of history and skilled craftsmanship and is adorned with a large park with private swimming pool inside a farm estate that produces excellent olive oil and natural wine of high quality: the ideal location for a perfect holiday. In this beautiful, beginning 19th century farmhouse the present owners have carried out a drastic renovation, also of the old stalls and the woodshed, restoring the original proportions of the building, internally and externally, that was thoughtlessly spoiled by previous interventions, and restoring the house to its timeless splendour. You just need to step over the threshold to see how successful this preservation work has been, to which has been added design and innovation. Modern stairs in iron have been added to the wooden beams, the parquet in the bedrooms, the terracotta floors in the living area and the local travertine, creating a strong but perfectly balanced contrast. The subdivision of space indoors is excellent as well: the living areas are open to the garden or to the pergola, the eat-in kitchen is spacious and fully equipped and the bedroms are bright and furnished with excellent taste and elegant furniture. From the house, pool and park you have a magnificent view over the hills and towards a territory of great architectural, cultural and naturalistic interest which was once the cradle of the Etruscans. We are in Sarteano, a little town in the province of Siena dominated by the walls of the castle and located in an excellent geographical position, on the border with the beautiful Val d'Orcia and close to railway stations and important road networks. There are many interesting places to visit from here : the art cities of Siena, Orvieto and Perugia, the spa resorts of San Casciano dei Bagni and Chianciano Terme as well as places famous for the production of wine and cheese like Sarteano, Chiusi, Pienza, Montepulciano e Montalcino.

Interior:

The house has two floors connected internally by iron stairs. The ground floor is composed of a hallway with guest bathroom and small cloakroom, a living room with fireplace, dining room, eat-in kitchen with French window facing the garden on the side of the pergola, a single bedroom fit for a child and a bathroom with shower. The first floor is divided into two separate apartments. The first, with access from the main entrance, has two double bedrooms with a bathtub inside the room itself and an ensuite bathroom with shower. The second, with access from the dining room, has a double bedroom with an adjacent bathroom with shower and an extra single bed in the TV room. In the basement, accessible only from the outside, is the laundry room.

Park:

Situated inside a farm estate of about 5 hectares, the park of Terra Quercus is the result of a restoration that has transformed what was once a spontaneous area of uncultivated shrubs and invasive plants into a veritable oasis of peace. In the hectare of park available to the guests is, in fact, a little wood where they can walk and a small olive grove of 600 trees as well as a variety of blooms that in spring and summer fill the air with their fragrance: scabiosa, buddleja, rubbeckia, thyme, rosemary, savory and many others. There are also fruit trees: apples, cherries, apricots, plums and pomogranates whose juicy fruits can be sampled according to the season. A fragrant row of lavender runs along one of the sides of the pool while iceberg roses cover the pergola set up for outdoor dining with table and chairs, next to the kitchen French window, just before the fantastic panoramic terrace that faces the little towns of Chiusi and Citta' della Pieve. A convenient brick-built barbecue with marble slab and sink are ideal for preparing tasty meals to be consumed outdoors. Please notice that photos are taken in spring, therefore flower blossoming, and the colours of the gardens' grass could be different at the moment of your arrival at the villa.

Swimming Pool:

The pool is situated on the side of the main entrance to the house, on a higher level with a 180° view over the surrounding countryside which can also be seen from inside the pool which has one infinity side, and is reached across a short tract of lawn. The rectangular pool, lined in PVC with the edge in fine white travertine, measures 6 x 12 m, with the depth varying from 1 m to 2.20 m, has chlorine purification and internal lighting. An iron ladder gives access to the water. In the sunbathing area, partly paved in travertine and partly covered in teak, is a lighting system and sunbeds and umbrellas for guests to relax beside the pool.

Terra Quercus is in the comune of Sarteano, less than 4 km from the motorway exit and 10 minutes from the railway station of Chiusi. Sarteano is a pictoresque medieval borgo, 600 m above sea level, on the slopes of Monte Cetona in an area south of Siena between the fascinating valleys of the Chiana and Orcia, this latter recently awarded the Orange Flag of the Touring Club Italiano for its high touristic and environmental standard. It is a borgo of amazing charm, in an area of great naturalistic, historical and archeological importance. Within the town walls which conserve the original medieval structure you will find, besides the many typical shops, architectural jewels like the churches of San Francesco, of the Collegiata and of San Martino, and the majestic castle, looking out over panoramic views from its high dominant position like a sentinel. In the Civic Museum of Sarteano, one of the most important in the province, are many objects from the Etruscan period to the late Roman period. Also in Sarteano are some of the most important Etruscan tombs in Tuscany, including the Tomb of the Infernal Chariot, perfectly preserved, that dates back to the IV century BC and can be visited by reservation at the museum. About 6 km away is the little town of Chiusi with its historic town centre perched on the summit of a hill facing the Valdichiana, famous for the Etruscan relics unearthed in its territory and housed in the internationally renowned National Etruscan Archeological Museum. Famous, and open to the public, is the Labyrinth of King Porsenna, discovered under Piazza del Duomo, which is in reality an old water supply system flowing through intricate underground tunnels. In this magical territory the vitality of the earth gains strength through its therapeutic waters that transform into wellbeing, which you can try out at the avant-garde spa resorts of Chianciano, Bagni San Filippo, San Casciano dei Bagni, Montepulciano or Bagno Vignoni, all a short distance from the property. Food and wine fans should visit the nearby towns of Sarteano, Cetona, Montepulciano and Montalcino, renowned for their wine, and Pienza which offers a rich tasting of typical cheeses. Thanks to the excellent road networks, the towns of Siena, Arezzo and Perugia can be reached in slightly less than an hour.
