Description:
PRIVATE STRUCTURE (lease only). Overlooking the beauty of the Upper Tiber Valley and on the edge of a carpet of ancient oak woodland sits Casale Mollina. Accessibly close to the small, historic town of Anghiari, the house sits amid its garden and 3 hectares of olive groves and is served by a private road off a small country lane. This part of Tuscany is less well known than the more visited attractions of other areas but is, in no way, less impressive. The gems of lesser known places, such as Monte Santa Maria Tiberina, Monterchi and others, do not disappoint a visitor’s discerning eye. The house offers the advantages of both privacy and proximity but , in no sense , does the visitor feel isolated from the local life going on around. For example, the small, unspoilt hamlet of Upacchi is a mere ten minute walk away.
The house was rebuilt in the late 1990’s, using the best traditional materials, on a site rumoured to have been that of an Etruscan watchtower, all of 3000 years ago. Casale Mollina is, hence, keyed in to an enduring link to a very old and interesting part of Italy. In comfortable surroundings and with a good ambience the visitor can relax and be assured of a warm and memorable experience.
All the rooms were reconstructed using such traditional features as wooden beams and tiled ceilings and the three bedrooms are equipped with air conditioning and mosquito barriers.
The 1 hectare garden has a compact, well maintained terrace with small areas of lavender and flower beds. The remaining garden slopes down to the swimming pool and is uncultivated land having some olive trees and abundant wild flowers in due season. There is an outside covered terrace and dining area with idyllic views and is perfect for ‘al fresco’ meals.
The swimming pool is unobtrusive but also easily accessible. It is set a short distance from the house, down a flight of stone steps, and has a shaded pergola area and a small shed housing sun beds and all necessary pool equipment. The pool is serviced weekly while in use.
Casale Mollina offers both privacy and a point of connection with this fascinating part of Italy, also home to the great Renaissance painter, Piero della Francesca. Some of whose great works can be seen in Sansepolcro, Monterchi and Arezzo.
There is also the mystery of the ‘missing’ Leonardo da Vinci painting of the Battle of Anghiari . This was painted around 750 years ago and then lost to posterity. A tragedy and a mystery waiting explicitly to be solved. What better reason is there than for the visitor to come here, ‘play the sleuth’ and solve the mystery?! Furthermore, Anghiari has for many years played host to its annual music festival in July, at which Italian and UK orchestras play well known classical and other music in delightful ‘in piazza’ surroundings. For this and many other reasons, Anghiari has become deservedly better known.
CASALE MOLLINA HAS BEEN SUBJECTED TO A CHECK-UP BY A TECHNICAL RESPONSIBLE BEFORE THE BEGINNING OF THE SEASON, TO ENSURE CONSISTENCY OF THE DESCRIPTION, ACCESSORIES LISTED ON THIS PAGE AND THEIR PRESENT STATE OF OPERATION/MAINTENANCE, TO GUARANTEE QUALITY, CLEANLINESS AND COMFORTS TO ALL CLIENTS WHO WILL STAY HERE.

Casale Mollina has two floors, connected both internally and externally. The main entrance leads to a large open-plan area with dining area, fully-equipped kitchen and lounge furnished with sofa, double sofa bed, armchairs, table, chairs and satellite TV. All the areas have direct access through French windows to the garden and completing the floor is a bathroom with tub and shower communicating with the laundry room. A brick and wood staircase leads up to the first floor with a double bedroom (with a 150 cm wide bed) with ensuite bathroom with shower, a double bedroom (with a 140 cm wide bed) and a twin bedroom sharing a bathroom with shower. All the bedrooms have air conditioning.
Park:
The estate in which the house is located extends for 1 hectare, fenced but without a gate, and contains a well-kept garden, a luxuriance of many types of flowers, a splendid olive grove, tall trees, lavender bushes, potted flowers and hedges that alternate in the neat lawn areas around the house and swimming pool. The land, with hilly morphology, extends gently over various terraces and slopes down from the house towards the swimming pool located below; the whole garden offers an endless view of extraordinarily intact nature. With direct access from the French windows of the kitchen, under the pergola with bamboo canopy, is the outdoor dining area with travertine table, chairs and portable barbecue. In front of the house is a 3-car, open-air parking area.
Please notice that photos are taken in spring, therefore flower blossoming, and the colours of the gardens' grass could be different at the moment of your arrival at the villa.
Swimming Pool:
About 50 m from the house, on a lower terrace reached down 47 stone steps, lies the beautiful exclusive swimming pool which offers plenty of privacy, the ideal setting for admiring wonderful panoramic views. Rectangular and measuring 10 x 5 m with the depth varying from 1.20 to 2.50 m, the pool is lined in PVC with the edge in white travertine and has chlorine purification, internal lights and a metal ladder for access to the water. The stone-paved pool area is equipped with sunbeds, umbrellas, a shower and a romantic pergola, with table and chairs, covered with jasmine and vines that give shade during the hottest hours. The swimming pool is open from the last Saturday in April until the first Saturday of October.
