Description:
RECEPTIVE STRUCTURE. Set on the green hills surrounding Florence is the beautiful residence of Torre al Poggio. The unique view seen from here that embraces the whole plain stretching from Florence towards Pistoia, and ending on a cluster of small borghi that surround the property, can be best admired at night, perhaps while immersed in the panoramic pool. Already existing in 1200, the borgo was a medieval settlement guarding the underlying castle of Calenzano, which flanks the roads that climbed the Apennine mountains, uniting Florence and Bologna. Torre al Poggio is a historic residence with an antique flavour, restored with eco-sustainable materials, combining the finishing touches of the past with modern insulation and ventilation technologies and so blending medieval romanticism with the comfort of a tourist residence. The property is set like a jewel in the Monte Morello Park dotted with tall cypresses and Alberese statuary boulders, a stone used since ancient times for the construction of churches and castles. The tower has three floors: on the ground floor is a large frescoed hall with living areas, a kitchen adjacent to the medieval-style dining room with vaulted brick ceiling, a bedroom of antique flavour with, as was used in the Middle Ages, a thick curtain in place of a door and a bathroom with shower not far away. On the remaining floors are the other bedrooms and bathrooms. Torre al Poggio will be an excellent starting point, just 8 km from the A1 motorway exit of Calenzano, from where you can reach the most famous towns of Tuscany, such as nearby Florence, Lucca, Pisa, Siena, Vinci and the Chianti area, or the Versilia coast with the famous golden beaches of Forte dei Marmi and Viareggio. Plese Note. The property is within a medieval hamlet bordering other inhabited houses, but the garden and swimming pool are for the exclusive use of the villa's guests.
TORRE AL POGGIO HAS BEEN SUBJECTED TO A CHECK-UP BY A TECHNICAL RESPONSIBLE BEFORE THE BEGINNING OF THE SEASON, TO ENSURE CONSISTENCY OF THE DESCRIPTION, ACCESSORIES LISTED ON THIS PAGE AND THEIR PRESENT STATE OF OPERATION/MAINTENANCE, TO GUARANTEE QUALITY, CLEANLINESS AND COMFORTS TO ALL CLIENTS WHO WILL STAY HERE.

From the living room, going up a spiral staircase you will find a corner equipped with a curtain on the gallery inside which is a shower/Turkish bath. Also on the gallery are a double bedroom also with a medieval style curtain closing the doorway. Always at this level passing through a kitchinette (not given in use) you find a sitting room from where the stairs go up to the second floor with two double bedrooms with ensuite bathroom, one with shower and one with a Teuco whirlpool tub. The fireplaces in the bedrooms are ornamental.
Park:
The garden extends for about 500 sq m with large areas paved in terracotta and stone, as well as small grassy areas embellished with colourful flowers and herbs typical of the area, such as rosemary, thyme and sage. At the rear of the tower is a large terrain planted with olive trees alternating with cypresses and oaks where guests can take long relaxing walks. The laundry is in the garden. At the front of the tower is an area equipped with table, chairs and stone barbecue for unforgettable lunches and dinners, in addition to the panoramic swimming pool and solarium area.
Please notice that photos are taken in spring, therefore flower blossoming, and the colours of the gardens' grass could be different at the moment of your arrival at the villa.
Swimming Pool:
Located a few metres from the house in a panoramic position, the rectangular pool, measuring 4 x 10 m with a constant depth of 1 m, is lined in sky blue resin and has chlorine purification, internal led lighting, a Jacuzzi corner and Roman steps for access to the water. It is completed by two small terracotta cherubs with little fountains typical of Florentine stately villas.
